Ibe is pick of the Cherries

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

JERMAIN DEFOE reckons the sky is the limit for Jordon Ibe after the youngster finally sparked Bournemouth’s season into life on Friday.

Eddie Howe’s side were behind to Solly March’s goal for Brighton and on course for their fifth defeat in five Premier League matches.

But the Cherries boss then sent on Ibe and the 21-year-old played in Andrew Surman for the equaliser, and Defoe for the match-winner.

Defoe said: “The sky’s the limit for him. When he came on he was unbelievable, he changed the game.”

Ibe has admitted he has underperformed since his £15million move from Liverpool.

And Defoe added: ”It’s not always easy when you’re young, there’s a lot of pressure, but there’s so much to come from him.”

Defoe dedicated his goal to Bradley Lowery, the six-year-old Sunderland fan who lost his battle with cancer in the summer.

He said: “He’s probably looking down thinking, ‘Yeh, but you’re playing for the wrong team’.”
