SMASH & DASH MAN DIES AFTER ARREST
34-yr-old forced way into homes before falling ill & losing life fight in hospital
Car crashed into the barricade understood to have become aggressive and bit one of the officers.
Eventually he was handcuffed and became unresponsive as he was led out of the house and an ambulance was called.
A Garda spokesman said: “He was then taken to Tallaght Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”
A postmortem was carried out yesterday by State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy and the incident has been referred to the Garda Siochana Ombudsman Commission.
The crash scene and house where the man was arrested were sealed off for technical examination by Garda Crime Scene Examiners and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who witnessed the initial smash on Limekiln Avenue or who may have been in the Templemanor area between Officer in South Dublin

Meanwhile, in a separate incident a male pedestrian has died following a road collision in Co Carlow. The man, who is understood to be in his late teens or early 20s, was fatally injured when he was struck by a SUV.
The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.
The Thomas Traynor Road to Rathbawn Lane was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
