Corker gigs by Jackson in new docu
Michael Jackson MICHAEL Jackson’s visit to Cork for two sell-out stadium concerts in 1988 will feature in an upcoming TG4 documentary.
Jacko’s promoter Oliver Barry is a contributor on An Phairc which offers an “insider view” into the rebuilding of Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
The gigs netted Ir£2million (€2.54million) in ticket sales – an astonishing feat at the time.
The singer’s band and dancers occupied an entire landing of Jury’s Hotel and installed a temporary dance floor to practise their routines.
Two years later music star Prince played to an estimated 60,000 people at the same venue.
An Phairc airs on TG4 on Wednesday at 9.30pm.
