Fabergé tells story of €1m BBC antique

-

The ornament FASCINATING details have emerged of a rare Fabergé flower that turned out to be the most valuable item ever taken to the BBC’S Antiques Roadshow.

The Russian jewellery firm said the 13.3cm ornament – thought to be worth over €1million – was one of only 80 of its botanical studies to survive.

A spokesman said it was originally a gift from an aristocrat to The Queen’s Own Worcestershire Hussars in the 1900s. He added: “They are among the most beautiful objects produced by the company.”

The item was brought in by two soldiers in June at the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, and will feature on the BBC1 show’s new series.
