Wow! 1 day in jail’s just fine

A JOBLESS man said “Wow” when told he would have €3,400 in fines written off in return for a day he spent in police cells.

James Barrett, 48, was hauled before Nottingham magistrates to explain why he had not paid the cash.

He said he was only two months out of jail and on unemployment benefit.

District Judge Tim Devas told him: “You are probably trying to get back on your feet. Good luck.”
