Can you recommend a good hedge? I need colourful coverage but don’t want leylandii. Dereck, Bristol DAVID: One of my favourites is pyracantha, or firethorn, which grows well and looks dazzling as it bursts with loads of bright red or orange berries. It will draw birds to your garden too, providing food and shelter.
