CHARGER HAS KHAN DO ATTITUDE

- BY PETER O’HEHIR

MENGLI KHAN put his experience gained last winter to good use when bolting-up in the At The Races Maiden Hurdle, which opened yesterday’s card in Navan.

The four-year-old, trained by Gordon Elliott for Gigginstown House Stud, raced close to the pace before taking command between the two flights and forging clear to beat Edelpour by six lengths, giving Jack Kennedy his third success in twentyfour hours.

“He’s a nice horse and you’d have to be very happy with him,” said Elliott. “They went no gallop, but he jumped better than in his two previous runs.”

Elliott is likely to seek more experience for the Lope De Vega gelding before having a crack at the Grade 1 ‘Royal Bond’ at Fairyhouse.

The Noel Made-trained Moulin A Vent survived a succession of mistakes before justifying 4/9 favouritism in the Meath Farms Machinery Hurdle.

Sean Flanagan’s mount ultimately drew clear of frontlast running High Nellie to triumph by eight lengths.

Meade’s Bel Ami De Sivola started favourite for the Emerald Facility Services Beginners Chase but dropped away tamely in the closing stages to finish a well-beaten third behind Ellmarie Holden’s chasing debutant Call The Taxie, ridden by Rachael Blackmore.
