BROPHY: I’LL FLATTEN DOWN SCOUSERS’ ROCKY ROAD

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

DAVID BROPHY has no qualms about going to Liverpool to fight for the British super-middleweight crown after bringing the Commonwealth belt back from Down Under.

Scot Brophy, 27, beat Zac Dunn in Oz in March and will put his title on the line at the Echo Arena against Scouser Rocky Fielding on Saturday.

Fielding’s British title will also be up for grabs, and Brophy said: “We’ve done things the hard way. We went to Australia to win the Commonwealth so I’ve got that behind me to take on a Scouser in front of his home town.

“Liverpool is a great city to be fighting in, it’s going to be hard and hostile. But at the end of the day if you don’t take chances, you don’t get the rewards.”

Stuart Hall faces Paul Butler, from nearby Ellesmere Port, on the same bill in what is set to be his penultimate fight. Hall said: “First and foremost I’m going to demolish Butler.

“All the pressure is on Paul, I’ll enjoy walking out to the boos being an away fighter.

“Then I’m looking at my old foe Jamie Mcdonnell — hopefully he can do a number on Liborio Solis and we can get it on again.

“That’s the rematch I’ve wanted for years and against Mcdonnell I can look to leave this sport on a high.”
