WANDA OF NEW FOR CONTE

- BY NEIL MOXLEY

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCHDAY 2

ANTONIO CONTE will be the first manager to experience a Champions League night at Atletico Madrid’s new £200million home.

Chelsea’s boss will lead his team into the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Wednesday in a clash that will have a huge bearing on the final placings in Group C. Atletico only opened the doors to the 67,000-capacity arena last week for the visit of Malaga after playing their first four fixtures away from home. Boss Diego Simeone (left) and his side remained unbeaten in that time and, as if the tie needed any additional spice, it will surely receive some with Diego Costa’s £67million move to Atletico agreed on Thursday. Chelsea’s trip is the stand-out fixture of the second round of matches, with both Manchester United and Liverpool facing trips to Russia.

Their league is well under way already and Jose Mourinho appears to face the tougher task.

CSKA are just five points off leaders Zenit, while Spartak occupy a mid-table berth, following a sticky start to the campaign.
