Luk chant to be punished
MANCHESTER UNITED have vowed to punish their own fans after they continued to sing a controversial song about Romelu Lukaku. United have asked for CCTV footage to try to identify those chanting about Lukaku, 24, in the 1-0 victory at Southampton, with a view to taking further action. The chant – referencing a racial stereotype – is described by anti-discrimination body Kick It Out as “offensive and discriminatory”. A United spokesperson said afterwards: “Manchester United has a zero tolerance stance on offensive chanting and behaviour. “The club and player have been clear in asking for an end to the chant. The club will take further action if this continues and has asked for CCTV footage from Southampton and will try to identify those who disrespected the player’s wishes not to sing the song.”
