Suspect held over killings

TURKISH police arrested a suspect yesterday for the murders of a Syrian opposition activist and her journalist daughter in Istanbul.

Ahmet Barakat, a distant relative of Orouba Barakat (60), and Halla (22), whose bodies were found a week ago in their apartment in the city, was arrested after a police operation.

Turkish media said Orouba Barakat was investigating reports of torture in prisons run by the Syrian government.
