Ireland ‘failing on climate change’
THERE’S a Whole Lotta Cakin’ Going On as Jerry Lee Lewis rocks at a New York gig on his 82nd birthday. IRELAND is not doing its fair share to protect the planet, a Citizens’ Assembly meeting heard yesterday.
The convention in Malahide, Co Dublin, received 1,200 submissions on climate change from members of the public.
Environmental scientist Dr Conor Murphy outlined just how vulnerable Ireland is to the effects of climate change.
He detailed the evidence of sea level increases, air and ocean temperature rises and how evidence suggests it is humans who Dr Laura Burke are driving these changes. The Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency, Dr Laura Burke, said tackling climate change is the issue of our time.
She added fundamental change across society was needed to address the challenge.
