Trump blasts mayor over hurricane aid
PRESIDENT Donald Trump lashed out at the mayor of San Juan and “others in Puerto Rico” for their response to Hurricane Maria.
He said “they want everything done for them when it should be a community effort”.
Carmen Yulin Cruz, the mayor of San Juan, which is the island’s largest city, has pleaded for assistance, warning there is an unfolding humanitarian crisis.
She also chided Trump’s Homeland Security chief, Elaine Duke, for characterising the relief efforts as a “good news story.”
There has been focus on Mr Trump’s response, or lack of, to the hurricane in the few days after it blew through Puerto Rico.
