US braced for deadly storm
HURRICANE Nate is threatening to hit the US central Gulf Coast with winds and storm surges.
The weather system has already killed 25 people in Central America.
New Orleans evacuated some residents as the category one hurricane, the weakest on a five-category scale used by meteorologists, churned towards the central Gulf of Mexico.
The city’s mayor Mitch Landrieu said: “Nate is at our doorstep or will be soon. We have been through this many, many times. There is no need to panic.”
