- BY BRIAN MCNALLY

Boss Freddy Terry Mcdermott & Wayne Rooney Ex-england manager Allardyce FOOTBALL’S greats gather to say farewell to former Newcastle United chairman Freddy Shepherd. Alan Shearer, Wayne Rooney, Kenny Dalglish, Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce were joined by his TV star friend Declan Donnelly with wife Ali. United legends Peter Beardsley, Les Ferdinand, Lee Clark, Steve Howey, Shay Given and ex-assistant boss Terry Mcdermott paid their respects. And Toon fans – invited by the family of the 75-year-old who died last month – wore the club’s black and white colours. St. George’s Church in Jesmond, Newcastle, was full 30 minutes before the service – just like St James’ Park in his 10-year reign as they reached two FA Cup Finals and were League runners-up.
