Time’s up for tikka... curry No1 is korma

MOVE over tikka masala... korma is the new king of curries.

Nearly a fifth of people now say the mild creamy dish is their No1 Indian.

Tomato-based tikka masala – once named our national dish – fell to No2, followed by madras, jalfrezi and vindaloo.

One in three of us now chooses the same Indian dish every time, according to research by Kingfisher beer for National Curry Week, starting tomorrow.

Nearly two-thirds admit they’ve never tried a vindaloo. Boss John Price said: “Many are missing out on interesting dishes. Curry Week is a chance to try something new.” ■
