Crock Ben already on the Mendy
MANCHESTER CITY defender Benjamin Mendy is on course for a surprise spot at the World Cup.
The Frenchman had surgery on ruptured cruciate ligaments last week and there were fears he would miss the rest of the season.
But the operation has been declared a total success and City believe that Mendy, a £52million signing from Monaco, will be back for the last month of the campaign.
That would give him time to put himself in the frame for a place in the France squad for Russia.
The 23-year-old, who missed the start of the season with a thigh problem, suffered serious knee damage in the 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace last month in only his fifth appearance for the Blues.
City are now weighing up whether they need to line up another left-back in the January transfer window, with Napoli’s Algerian international Faouzi Ghoulam out of contract at the end of the season and possibly available at a knockdown price.
