Boss hangs Leo out to spin dry in fiery speech
FIANNA Fail leader Micheal Martin has lambasted Leo Varadkar as a right wing leader who is addicted to “spin.”
Mr Martin was speaking in his keynote address at what is likely to be the party’s last Ard Fheis before a General Election.
He told the RDS Dublin that the “spin machine,” amplified by the appointment of a €5million a year Strategic Communications Unit, showed that his priorities lie in communications ahead of policy.
Mr Martin said: “The Taoiseach has actually appointed a marketing expert to his department.
“He has appointed no expert to advise on health, or housing, or Brexit or any other of the most urgent problems – but he has an entire team to shoot videos to sell his image.
“Now millions more are to be spent next year because he says he wants to be sure the Government’s message is getting out. That tells us a lot.”
