ROBBEN LIES IN WAIT FOR RODGERS’ BHOYS

-

Bayern Munich v Celtic Wednesday, 7.45pm

ASK any full-back in the world about the threat of Arjen Robben and they’ll tell you the same thing.

You know what he’s going to do – you just can’t stop it.

A feign to go outside, then chopping on to his left foot and curling the ball past the keeper. It has been the Bayern Munich winger’s (right) trademark. Devastating to watch and difficult to defend.

Mikael Lustig saw the Dutchman up close on Tuesday when Holland beat his Sweden side 2-0. He reckons Robben’s one of the best widemen the game has ever seen but he’s someone Celtic will have to shackle in the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Lustig (above) is glad it will be Kieran Tierney’s job rather than his but is sure the Hoops kid will relish the challenge.

Ahead of the trip to Germany, Lustig said: “Robben scored twice against Sweden so he’s in good form. He’ll be a big threat for Bayern – he’s one of the best wingers there has ever been.

“That left foot, you know he’s going to go inside but you can’t stop it. We’ve seen it so many times over the years.

“I’m glad he’s on the other side of the pitch! But it will be a great challenge for Kieran. He won’t be daunted.

He’s quite calm and it doesn’t matter how big the game is. KT’S just getting better.”
