WHEN LVG SAW RED

-

LOUIS VAN GAAL has hit out at Jose Mourinho 16 months after being sacked as manager of Manchester United.

The Dutchman was left stunned when Mourinho, confronted with Van Gaal in the corridors at Anfield, invited him in for a glass of wine after the game.

Mourinho, he said, tried to be as nice as possible.

But Van Gaal believes the Portuguese was angling for the United job while he was still in the Old Trafford hotseat.

He said: “Of course. How I have suspected it, the way it went was not elegant at all from him. It resulted in my sacking.

“In principle Mourinho is not a bad guy. But he lets himself go out of control too often.’’

Van Gaal was given a warm welcome by United staff and fans, but said: “The minute before kick off when the Kop end sing ‘You’ll never walk alone’ gives me goose bumps. Oh, it is wonderful.”
