Dunphy tells Tubs of new mum fears

MAIA Dunphy has spoken about her fears around motherhood revealing: “I think it’s important for some women to be allowed not to have kids.”

The mum spoke candidly on The Late Late Show about the arrival of son Tom, two, with comic husband Johnny Vegas.

The 41-year-old writer told host Ryan Tubridy: “I was worried through my whole pregnancy that I didn’t feel this incredible bond with my bump.”

Dunphy, from Dalkey, South Dublin, whose blog has won critical acclaim, added: “It turns out loads of women feel this way.

“It doesn’t mean you’re going to be a terrible mother.

“Sometimes you have to embrace being slightly terrified.”
