Carrey forced to testify over ex-girlfriend death

- BY ZOE SHENTON

JIM Carrey will finally tell his side of the story in his Irish ex-girlfriend’s wrongful death case after a court ordered his deposition.

The Dumb And Dumber actor will be forced to answer personal questions after being accused of causing the suicide of Cathriona White from Cappawhite, Co Tipperary.

The case has been brought by White’s estranged husband Mark Burton, and her mother Brigid Sweetman.

Ms Sweetman claims Carrey gave her multiple STDS and lied about it.

Cathriona, 28, overdosed on a variety of prescription pills on September 28, 2015.

It is alleged Carrey gave her drugs “despite knowing she had struggled

with depression and attempted suicide in the past”.

Court papers from the Superior Court of the State of California confirmed Sweetman and Burton “will take the deposition of Defendant James Eugene Carey”.

Michael Avenatti, the lead lawyer representing the family, said: “This is a search for the truth and we will find it. When we do, it will not end well for Mr Carrey.”

It is alleged when she confronted Carrey he

“manipulated her, shamed her, exploited her and threatened her”. The actor has denied the allegations Carrey filed a cross-complaint in which he claims make-up artist Cathriona tried to extort money from him in 2013.
