HOSTS SCOT MORE

- BY PAUL KEANE

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS Scotland 2-12 Ireland Hurling/shinty International 0-12

JOHN Mcgrath and Conor Lehane (inset) put their county allegiances to one side to star for Ireland – but it still wasn’t enough to win back the Hurling/shinty title.

The Tipperary and Cork stars scored 0-7 between them in Inverness to push hosts Scotland all the way.

Kevin Bartlett’s 1-9 haul for Scotland and a 68th minute Roddy Macdonald goal, when he followed up after an Enda Rowland save, were crucial. Ireland, with Wexford ace Lee Chin and Tipp’s James Barry also in their ranks, will kick themselves as the hosts outscored them by 2-4 to 0-4 in the closing period.
