Campaign will help CF sufferers

MOST of us take breathing for granted, but those living with cystic fibrosis have to fight to fill their lungs every minute of every day.

One of those is brave Edelle Collins who has agreed to share her struggle with the nation.

Her ragged breathing – heavily punctuated by fits of coughing – features in a powerful Fight To Breathe campaign launched by CF Ireland.

This country has some of the most severe types of CF in the world, with 1,200 sufferers and an average life expectancy of just 27.

It’s time to salute their bravery and to accept their silent suffering is far from normal.
