The Pogues lead singer lost his gnashers through years of drug and alcohol abuse but has revamped his look with a new set of dentures.

Christy added: “I explained the story to Darragh. He said, ‘I see you as an Irish icon. It’s not fair you’re going around like that. I’ll do those teeth for you’.

“I said, ‘I don’t have any bleeding money’. He said, ‘Don’t worry about it’. I said, ‘What can I do for you?’ He said, ‘You don’t have to do anything. I want to do this for you’.

“So, I spent six months going to him and he totally did all my teeth. He did a great job. He’s been an absolute hero.”
