The 41-year-old Co Antrim woman, who features on RTE’S Say Yes To The Dress, admitted she was gobsmacked when he went the traditional route to pop the question.
Brid, who shed four stone ahead of her big day, said although hubby-to-be Garry O’hagan is “a bit old-fashioned” she can’t wait to tie the knot.
She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “Daddy is 104 so he can’t hear very well. I look after him and mummy every Wednesday and Garry comes to pick me up.
“When he asked him I was next door but he had to shout Wedding guru because daddy couldn’t hear him, so I overheard the whole thing.
“Even so Garry then insisted on coming in and asking mummy [Doris, 84] the same question – and I had to leave the room all over again.”
Brid added the experience after her impressive weight loss was “magical” – and thanks to wedding planner Franc, aka Peter Kelly, she has the perfect gown.
She said: “I was a size 18 and I would’ve been really shy, walking with my head down, whereas now I’m really confident, bouncing along.
“Before I dreaded finding clothes to fit me but now shopping is a joy. Everyone is used to seeing me in a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a football top.
“Being Francified was amazing, I just loved it.”
Say Yes To The Dress Ireland airs on RTE Two on Monday at 9.30pm.
