Supercars in surge as car market stalls
SUPERCARS are roaring out of the showrooms despite falling car sales.
Aston Martin, Bentley, Ferrari and Lamborghini sold eight per cent more motors in a year – even though the new car market shrank 9.3 per cent overall.
There are now 36,000 supercars on our roads – up from 25,829 in 2013, according to DVLA data.
The new BMW i8 – the world’s first petrol-electric hybrid supercar – sold an extra 14.6 per cent.
Alex Buttle, of Motorway. co.uk, said: “Many of these cars head overseas, but lots are being bought by wealthy customers.”
