Belafonte takes on Mel B’s mum ‘to clear name’
HE’S just settled with ex-wife Mel B but Stephen Belafonte has a new battle... with his former mother-in-law.
I’m told the 42-year-old is “furious” with Mel’s mum Andrea, 60, over her constant public statements accusing him of abusing his family.
The restaurateur’s pals say he could take legal action if she does not drop the jibes. A source said: “Stephen is fuming, he has been so happy over the settlement but Mel’s mum won’t back down.
“She continues to accuse him of being a domestic abuser. He wants to clear his name.”
This week, Mel settled with Stephen, right, privately days before a trial on the domestic violence claims.
It would have been a PR disaster, as dozens of sordid sex tapes were to be played to a judge.
Insiders say part of the settlement is Mel, 42, must not mention outside court allegations of past abuse. They also claim the star is “coming to terms with the realisation her court matters have deeply impacted her life”. But that did not stop Andrea making more allegations, including claims Mel’s daughter Phoenix, 18, may have been abused. She said: “My daughter is no quitter. The abuse she and Phoenix went through will not be settled out of court!!” This drama may still run for some time...
