Celebs crushed on velvet

Baroque and roll revamp for fabric

-

VELVET is having a moment this winter as fashion revamps the plush, baroque trend. Top fashion houses marched models down the catwalks in every velvet garment imaginable, including gowns, coats, suits, boots, hats and even bikinis.

The trend has already permeated celebs’ wardrobes, proving to be a red-carpet favourite through the colder months.

Rita Ora and Amy Adams have been snapped in sumptuous Tom Ford, while Nicole Kidman sported a plunging, lush Armani Privé dress at this year’s BAFTAS. Ditch the basic black, as did Poldark star Eleanor Tomlinson, who was spotted leaving Claridge’s in a burgundy velvet jumpsuit by Ong-oaj Pairam. Fashionista Olivia Palermo, left, also makes the case stepping out in a deep green velvet jacket worn over an ankle-grazing skirt. Get the look for less with H&M’S crushed jacket (€39.99). With Christmas just around the corner get into the festive spirit with the seasons’ signature fabric from The Kooples gorgeous burgundry velvet dress (€194.50) to Zara’s cool culottes and matching jacket. For showstopping glamour we’re loving Mango’s forest green wrap dress (€159.95), which is perfect for the party season ahead. demelza.deburca@irishmirror.ie
