JOSE WILL COST PSG £30m

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

JOSE MOURINHO will cost Paris St-germain an eye-watering £30million if they want him this summer.

French giants PSG are hoping to exploit a contract stand-off between Manchester United and Mourinho. But Sunday Mirror Sport can reveal that the terms of the deal the Portuguese signed when he arrived in Manchester 18 months ago was designed to give United extra security should such a situation arise.

Mourinho sealed a three-year deal worth £45m in 2016. He also agreed to United’s demand that the agreement should include the option of another 12 months – and that clause can only be triggered by the club.

It means United would be due two years’ compensation should Mourinho quit at the end of the season – worth a cool £30m.

PSG’S interest in Mourinho – coupled with the 54-year-old’s admission that he would, one day, be open to a move to the French capital – has cranked up speculation that United could spend next summer looking for their fourth manager since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

And United’s failure to hand Mourinho a pay rise in recognition of winning the Europa League, League Cup and Community Shield in his first season at Old Trafford has given PSG hope that they can capitalise on his growing frustration.
