Hammers’ European inspiration

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

ANGELO OGBONNA reckons David Moyes is already injecting a little continental flair into London’s East End.

As the Hammers prepared for his first game in charge, against Watford today, Ogbonna claimed Moyes’ sessions were similar to those he and his team-mates had experienced at some of Europe’s top sides.

Ex-torino and Juventus centre-back Ogbonna said: “When I see our training, it’s really similar to Italian or Spanish training, tactical, but with the ball.

“When I spoke with Pedro Obiang and the others, they said, ‘Yes, it’s not just English training, but international’.

“If I compare it to Serie A and my time in Juventus, it is really similar. We started with double sessions, like I was doing a couple of years ago in Italy.

“We are positive, but it will take time to change.

“The new staff have given us a good way to see our own good points.”
