I broke my wrist tripping over my seven-year-old son on holiday. But because the fracture was so slight it wasn’t spotted on an X-ray the next day. I couldn’t believe the pain but I was told it wasn’t broken.

After several months I had a private MRI scan.

It found I had a hairline fracture not previously visible. In June I had surgery at Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull.

My fingers were suspended in a device which pulled the joint apart before the surgeon used a 2mm shaver to remove scarring and smoothed the break with a power burr. I didn’t need a plaster cast. I was just bandaged for a few days. Lindsey Sword, 41, West Midlands
