The author of The Martian follows his stratospheric hit with a new space adventure, set in the near future at a moon colony. Artemis is a hotspot for pleasure seekers, with the lack of gravity just one attraction for rich tourists. But making ends meet is tough for locals including 26-year-old Jazz, who supplements her porter’s wage with smuggling. She can’t say no when offered a get-rich-quick heist. While the plot could do with a tidy up and there’s possibly too much detail about welding, Jazz’s sarcastic, smutty narrative jollies things along. Artemis is worth a visit. DEIRDRE O’BRIEN
