This vine, linked to Christmas, is in the ginseng family. Its leaves can be used in medicines. PROS: Can help bronchial function and ease the symptoms of asthma, bronchitis or a cough by reducing swelling. It is often found in cough medicines or lozenges. CONS: Research into its effectiveness for treating different ailments is limited. Exposure to the leaves may also cause skin irritation.
