Jacob: Bookies crackers with King George VI odds

- BY DAVID YATES

DARYL JACOB reckons the bookies have got their sums wrong in making Might Bite a hot favourite for the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day.

The market leader is as short as 6-5 for the Kempton Park feature.

But Jacob, who partners 7-2 second choice Bristol De Mai, said: “It’s a very, very competitive race, and I don’t understand why the betting has it the way it is.

“I’m worried about every horse – not just one horse – and connections of the other horses wouldn’t be entering if they didn’t think they had a chance of winning it.”

Bristol De Mai made use of hock-deep mud to land the Betfair Chase by a yawning 57 lengths at Haydock Park last month.

However Jacob insists Nigel Twiston-davies’ grey does not need heavy ground to be seen at his best.

“It’s an advantage for him,” the Irishman added.

“But he has won on good to soft as well, and I’m not particularly worried about the ground.”
