Soccer boss Mccaffrey dies aged 58
TRIBUTES have poured in following the death of former Dundalk and Ireland underage soccer manager Sean Mccaffrey.
The 58-year-old passed away early yesterday at Cavan General Hospital following a long battle with diabetes and kidney problems.
Mccaffrey became the youngest manager in the history of the League of Ireland in 1983 when appointed Monaghan boss at the age of 23.
He also had a spell in charge of the Irish under17, under-18 and under-19 teams.
FAI chief John Delaney described Mccaffrey as “truly an inspirational character and someone who made a difference at all levels of the game”.
