Charlie leads gender wage gap summit
THE Government is to host a conference to discuss the gender pay gap.
Wednesday’s event in Dublin will hear from business leaders, politicians, trade unionists and academics.
A public consultation was launched in August last year on ways to address the gap.
Minister for Justice and Equality Charlie Flanagan will brief those attending on the submissions.
He said that 2018 was the centenary of women achieving voting rights in Ireland.
EU figures show women in Ireland earn 13.9% less than men.
The event comes just a week after Iceland made it illegal for men to be paid more than women.
