WILLIE MULLINS doubled-up with odds-on favourites Livelovelaugh and Squadron Commander in Cork yesterday.

Having only his second start over fences, Livelovelaugh produced an impressive display of jumping for Paul Townend to record an all-the-way victory in the Mccarthy Insurance Group Beginners Chase, beating Drumconner Lad by three lengths.

“He loves jumping and galloping,” stated Mullins, right. “And his style of jumping suggests he’ll be a much better chaser than he was over hurdles. The ground is very testing, but he stays well and we’ll be going out in distance with him. He’ll have to step into graded company now.”

Patrick Mullins provided Closutton with the second leg of the double as debutant Squadrom Commander, an Oscar gelding, proved a workmanlike victor of the bumper, staying on dourly to slam Love N Peace by more than four lengths.

Mullins described the winner as “a nice type” and confirmed he’ll go for a winners bumper before embarking on a hurdling career next season.

Charles Byrnes saddled a one-two in the featured Gerardine Mccarthy Memorial Handicap Hurdle as 25/1 shot Line Duties, back after a lengthy absence, outpointed Indian Monsoon.

Chatham Street Lad landed a major gamble in the opening rated novice hurdle, making all for Luke Dempsey to justify 15/8 favouritism.
