Gale: Play best Irons

- BY STEVE STAMMERS

DAVID MOYES should field his strongest possible side at Shrewsbury today, says former West Ham defender Tony Gale.

“The FA Cup is very much part of the club’s history and has meant so much,” said Gale, 58, who spent a decade at Upton Park, then won the Premier League with Blackburn.

Hammers boss Moyes has said that top-flight survival is a priority that will be reflected in his selection against League One Shrews.

Gale said: “I understand the importance of staying in the Premier League because of the money that is available now. I get that.

“But why can’t you have a good FA Cup run AND stay in the Premier League? The FA Cup means so much to West Ham fans. It always has done.”
