‘SHILTS CAN TIP BALANCE’
NOTTINGHAM FOREST’S Jordan Smith has been taking tips from goalkeeping legend Peter Shilton ahead of his sternest examination in the game.
The stopper, 23, has struck up a timely friendship with England’s mostcapped player as Arsenal head for the east Midlands. Smith wasn’t alive when two-time European Cup-winner Shilton picked up the last of his 125 caps.
But he was a hero of Smith’s dad, Darren, and now the pair have developed a professional relationship.
He said: “Peter is a hero of mine – and my dad’s – and recently the friendship has blossomed. I got to meet him at the ground a couple of weeks ago after the game against Bolton – he was fantastic.
“He set 15 minutes aside for me at the end, and he was as good a listener as he is a talker, which was fantastic for me. I have the chance to pick his brain.”
