Liverpool striker Luis Suazez was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. Suarez was banned for eight games and fined £40,000.

Chelsea and England captain John Terry was banned for four matches by the FA and fined £220,000 for using the words “f ***** g black ***” at Anton Ferdinand during a game between Chelsea and QPR.

Jonjo Shelvey of Newcastle was fined £100,000 and suspended for five matches after using racist language towards Romain Saiss at Wolves.

An independen­t investigat­ion ruled Mark Sampson, the sacked former manager of the England women’s team, used racially discrimina­tory language towards players Eni Aluko and Drew Spence.
