2,500 taken off the street

ALMOST two thirds of homeless people who left the streets in Dublin last year were put in private sector accommodat­ion.

New figures from Dublin City Council show 2,482 people were offered tenancies up to November 2017.

And by the end of that month 1,188 families and 2,059 single people were living in hotels, hostels and other facilities, compared with 1,023 families and 1,656 single people in November last year.
