Police move on protest over H&M ad

SOUTH African police yesterday intervened to clear protesters trashing outlets of H&M in response to a controversial advertisement.

A photo on its website of a black boy wearing a green hoodie with the slogan “coolest monkey in the jungle” sparked outrage on social media.

The Swedish clothing giant pulled the image but the Economic Freedom Fighters organised protests at several H&M outlets around Johannesburg.

Video footage shows members of the EFF, a radical group, kicking over clothes rails and destroying display units.
