Drug driver kills boy, three

- BY GERARD COUZENS

A BRITISH tourist tested positive for cocaine after reversing his 4x4 vehicle over a three-year-old boy in Marbella.

The unnamed driver, in his twenties, hit the child while reversing to pick up a hat that had flown out of a window.

The French boy had just been let out of a car by his grandmother. Paramedics gave him CPR but he was declared dead. Spanish police said the driver, who was the Hyundai Tucson with three friends, passed an alcohol breathalyser test, and witnesses said he looked sober.

Officers added that more tests will be done to work out when the cocaine was taken. The results will determine whether the man faces a drug-driving charge.

He has already been questioned on suspicion of manslaughter over last Sunday afternoon’s incident. He had not been charged last night.
