I won after my dad ensured I never ran late reveals Usain

- BY JILLY BEATTIE

USAIN Bolt has thanked his dad’s strict timekeeping for helping give him the discipline to become the fastest human.

Bolt, 31, said his dad Willis in Jamaica still ticks him off if he is late.

Bolt said: “I’m always on time, always. If I say, ‘Yo, see you at 10 o’clock’, I’ll be there at 10 o’clock – and probably before it.

“It’s from my upbringing. My dad is a stickler for timekeeping. If I was late my dad would be upset.

“It’s about good manners and showing respect.”

He added that the only person who can make him cry is his mother Jennifer.

He said: “If Mom gets sick or she’s not happy it upsets me and, yeah, it makes me cry.

“People assume I’m cocky until they meet me.

“But my upbringing has been very steady and my parents would kick my a** if I changed.

“Even today dad might say something I disagree with and look at me with that expression... I have to say, ‘Dad, you can’t whip my a**, calm down’.”
