Your op
I was in a horrific motorbike accident 20 years ago that left my right hip and ankle out of line – and my leg looking like a banana.
I needed a replacement knee, but my bones were too damaged to allow a traditional op – until I was offered computer aided surgery at Spire Leeds Hospital in April 2017. Consultant orthopaedic surgeon David Macdonald used the infra-red navigation camera and wireless smart instruments to shape the bones to receive the new joint. My knee is now correctly aligned and I can bend it to 90 degrees. I’m feeling a lot fitter – and much more optimistic. Rachel Phillips, 52, Leyburn, North Yorks
