Households told water is safe to drink
A BOIL water notice for large parts of South Dublin and Wicklow has been lifted.
Irish Water confirmed supplies from the Vartry Water Treatment Plant are now safe to drink.
A notice was put in place on the advice of the HSE on Monday to protect around 65,000 people following a mechanical failure of the equipment.
Irish Water liaised with the HSE and worked with the three local authorities – Wicklow, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown and Dublin City, who operated the plant – to lift the notice.
Irish Water has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
