X FILES star Gillian Anderson has revealed that she has felt like an “outsider” all her life.

The actress, 49, said growing up between London and the US with much younger siblings made her feel different.

She said: “I’ve always felt like an outsider. I’m sure part of that was being an only child for so long.

“And part of it was being a Yank in England. Even though I felt British, I was referred to as a Yank.

“When you’re told you’re ‘other’ or don’t fit in, it’s got to have repercussions.”

The mum-of-three, who is quitting the sci-fi drama after 11 series, also told how she is comfortable with turning 50 this year.

She said: “I feel good about it. I’m quite… is excited the word?”
