Torment of toddler tantrums

-

The first rule is don’t lose your cool. It’s SO important for her to see she is not upsetting you. Tell her you will listen to her when she stops. Public tantrums cause parents to give in just to reduce embarrassment, but this causes repeat behaviour. Calmly say: ”You will not get what you want by crying and kicking. When you calm down, we can talk about it.” And then do indeed talk it through later. Give yourself a break for a few hours with someone else looking after her. It’s not her that you almost dislike, it’s her behaviour. It will pass.
