Pick of the week

-

Louis Walsh, Michelle Visage, Jason Byrne and Denise van Outen opened the show with a self-choreographed dance which Michelle reliably informed everyone was called “Vogueing”. Next up was Shaniah Rollo, from the Philippines, who caught everyone’s attention when she sang Cindi Lauper’s True Colours. The 13-year-old melted hearts when she told the judges she would use the prize money to bring her brothers and sisters over to Ireland as she really misses them.

We then saw Pat Glynn, 79, from Cavan, who has already promised to share the money with a crew member if he wins.

The trumpet player performed Blueberry Hill and showed off some serious dance moves into the bargain – impressing Jason with his “shaky knees” routine.

Then we had 81-year-old great-grandmother Evelyn Williams, from Tallaght, who took to the stage to sing Send in the Clowns. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as she revealed she’d been singing all her life and believes her late husband would be proud of her.

Ireland’s Got Talent airs on TV3 on Saturdays at 7.30pm followed by Ireland’s Got Mor Talent at 9pm. If you missed last night’s opener it’s repeated on 3e today at 3.45pm.
